So, of course before I start my review, I have to say thank you to Brynne Asher. Not everyone has the chance to receive an ARC to review and I am grateful to have been one of the lucky ones. You have a forever fan in me, and I don't see that changing love. You rock! Now to my review ....
Gifts is such an amazing story. I mean, I'm not surprised considering the other sexy killers were amazing as well. When I was first introduced to Asa, I knew I had to have him. And I was not disappointed.
Asa is everything you would want in a man. Sexy, good with his .... hands, an amazing father and super bad***. He's a gentle bad*** though. He doesn't get mad unless provoked and he has the patience of a saint. And did I say amazing father? Give it up one time for the man who is willing to die for his family regardless of the situation. God bless the sexy beast.
Keelie, on the other hand, is all over the place. That's not a bad thing though, well not to me. I love her because she reminded me of myself. Granted I don't have kids, goats, donkeys or other pets hanging around, but I do have tons of crap going on and some times it's hard to find the time to keep it together. I love her because she is an amazing mom on a mission. She is trying her best to be a single mother, finish her project house, get out of debt and do the best she can at work. Jeez she has a lot going on. But like I said earlier, you love her because she is so relatable. Some times book characters are hard to like because they seem too perfect. And I was happy to see that despite not having all of the answers and all of her stuff together, Keelie was making it work for her and her kids.
When Keelie and Asa get together, you just know it's going to be fireworks galore. She tried to fight against her developing feelings for the sexy single dad, but like always, she didn't stand a chance. Asa refused to be pushed aside despite Keelie's attitude about them being together, and that made him even hotter to me. When she finally realized that she wasn't getting her way and just went with the flow, the story became that much more interesting. The love they developed and showed each other was beautiful. They are the fun couple you and your friends want to be around because you have no idea what's going to come out of their mouths; which is so me and my husband.
Not only is Gifts fun, but also sexy as fudge! I knew once Keelie got over her "not wanting to be in a relationship" phase the sex was going to be explosive. Brynne definitely made sure of the fact. Have you ever come across a story where you just knew the sex was going to have that extra umph? Well, that's what's happening between Asa and Keelie. Their sex is raw, and rough and super passionate. I'm talking pick me up and slam me against the wall kind of passion. Mmmmmm, Asa.
Overall, Gifts is such a fun read. It's action packed and full of drama. It will make you laugh and has the potential to make you cry. From beginning to end you will be hooked, take my word for it. You will love every minute of this story. And just think, all it took for them to find each other, was a bad date and the ability to change a tire. If that's not the definition of true love's start, I don't know what is.

Gifts A Killers Novel Book 3 The Killers edition by Brynne Asher Romance eBooks Reviews
I adored everything about this book. This is one of those rare instances that I wanted to immediately re-read it when I finished. It had me smiling like a goof, sighing over Asa and fawning over the kids, goats and the donkey. This author really knows how to pull you in with every single character she introduces you to and that includes the animals.
If that wasn’t enough, Asa was an incredible Hero. Out of every comment/action he had in this book, there was only one time I didn’t like what he did and he made up for it immediately. That in itself is rare to find. He was mature, persistent, consistent, protective and one of the best dads I’ve read about. Not only was he a great dad for his own kids but the way he was there for Keelie’s kids was what put this man over the top.
I also, liked Keelie as a heroine. She was a strong character and I love the fact that her and Asa’s ex-wife got along, no pettiness. All they cared about was the kids. She does have a lot of insecurities she deals with in the book due to her deceased husband, but that just showcased how good of a man Asa was with how he handled those insecurities. I also liked that there was no pining for the dead husband. To me that makes it hard to focus on the couple in the book.
Really, everything was handled in a way that brought greater enjoyment to my read of this story. The suspense was exciting and really brought out that protective gene in Asa. I think it’s safe to say I loved this book and highly recommend it!
The Killers series continues with the story of Asa and Keelie, and I have to say, this is my favorite book of the series, so far!
Summary
Keelie Lockhart looks like she has it all together. Playing mom and dad to her two small children, slowly refurbishing her dilapidated house, caretaker to a menagerie of animals, and working as a high school counselor. She’s determined and doing the very best she can considering all she's been through and lost. No one sees that it’s all she can do to keep it together sometimes, and keep moving forward. With time in short supply, adding a man to her already chaotic life isn’t an option. No way, no how. But Asa Hollingsworth isn’t just any man. He’s a knight in worn-in jeans and work boots, and he’s set his sights on Keelie. With the relaxed, single-minded focus he employs for his once dangerous job, Asa makes it clear they are going somewhere. After years of traveling, Asa’s finally sticking close and making more time for his kids. Being there for whatever time he has left with them before they’re grown is his only priority. At least it is until a chance meeting with the stunning strawberry-blonde woman who won’t leave his mind. Immediately, Asa understands there’s something there between them. Keelie does, too, but trusting in it isn’t as easy. It becomes even harder when Asa must dig deeper into what seems like a case of high school bullying, but turns out to be something much more, and danger lurks just around the corner with Asa’s family as a target. Asa will have to pool all of his patience to convince Keelie to take a chance on him. On them and the most precious gift of all, life.
I was looking forward to seeing more of Asa, as I felt he was a bit more mysterious throughout the other two books. He turned out to be even more amazing then I thought he’d be. First, meeting Keelie. It’s easy to see that Keelie has the weight of the world on her shoulders, being mom and dad to her two young children, sole provider, refurbishing her old house, and being caretaker to a slew of animals including goats, dogs, and an old donkey. She certainly shoulders a burden, but never outwardly lets that show. What she had been through, how she became a single mom, was heartbreaking and stressful, but she showed strength in dealing so her kids wouldn't feel that. There was a point in the book where I was over her issues, and quickly becoming frustrated, but Brynne did a fantastic job of leading us through to a solution and made all the frustration make sense. Lol. Now Asa. **sigh** He was the cat’s pajamas. He was trying hard to make up lost time with his kids and be a good dad. And if that doesn’t make you swoon, then how he is with Keelie, Knox, and Saylor definitely will. He wasn’t looking for a woman, but he wasn’t going to pass up one like Keelie. He gives himself and what he can offer freely, not backing down, and not giving up when giving gets hard. I love him and Keelie together. They had chemistry, and I honestly think it was just the beginning of their intimate journey. Had we got more of them, they would have given us even more sizzle. Supporting cast was just as wonderful. We got to catch up with Crew and Addy and Grady and Maya. We also looked in on the recruits we’ve met, most especially, Jarvis, as well as meeting some newbies. Asa and Keelie’s children were sweet, Saylor especially, and I enjoyed getting to know them. Overall, this was an excellent book. I didn’t want to put it down. The suspense was just right, and I honestly wasn’t sure who our bad guy was until he was revealed. What really hooked me, though was Asa’s winning Keelie over. While on the surface they make sense, there is a lot of history to wade through. History that causes friction due to the feelings it evokes. Asa navigated this effortlessly, continuing to give all he could until everyone was on the same page. It made me absolutely fall head over heels in love with him. Brynne, well done on another amazing read, and I can’t wait to read more. In fact, I have plans to go back and reread all of your books just to get my fix. Lol. ♡
