I really enjoyed this book. Definately a keeper. This book was written in 1983 & is typical of the writing style of that time. Keep that in mind when you read it. I love to go back & read books written in the 80's. I was in 7th grade in when I started reading romance in 1986. This book brings my initial joy in reading romance back to me. This romance has a lot of sadness & heartache in it, but a lot of joy too. The love between the two main characters is an awesome thing.

Life can be difficult. One can find love and the unimaginable can occur, bringing devastation. Sometimes this can be dealt with but it can take time.

This book is better than any Nicholas Sparks novel. A story of trauma and rebirth, love and forgiveness that I have read repeatedly since 1983. I wish it were in electronic format so I could always have it with me!

I love this book. One commenter alluded to its lack of depth in the characters, and I think she didn't read this book. The characters explode with love, pain, joy and fear that resonates with most people. She stated that the violence was offensive...WHAT violence?

Jillian stayed true to her innocence, her love, and Jacob. Even when he pushes to save her from his struggles, her resolve is to love him. I love this book. It is one of the very few that I keep and regularly re-read, and have kept it for 29 years, through 7 moves, just so I can read it again whenever I want.
This is the book that lit a fire underneath my love of reading. I read it when I was in my early teens and it was my first romance read. My aunt gave it to me and we've spent the next 30 years passing books back and forth with special notes on post its to point out the special ones. My aunt passed away a couple months ago, and I was devastated. I walked past my bookshelves today and this book stood out like it was lit up. As I took it off the shelves I felt the most amazing connection with my aunt. I'm generally not compelled to sit and write recommendations for items this old, but here we are. It's tender and sweet, yet it's the powerful portrayal of loss and need that will leave you broken and alone. Like the Pheonix you'll rise healing and brand new as the author weaves them a new tale. One that surpasses all the anxiety and pain of the past, while using the lessons learned to build a rock solid foundation to build anew. My only wish for this book is that it was in kindle form!!
The plot seemed interesting but the writing was awful! There was no depth to the characters and the violence was quite offensive - it was written in the 80s.
